Anxiety has a way of convincing you that it’s just how you are. That you’re a worrier by nature, that the tightness in your chest before a meeting is normal, that lying awake at 2 a.m. running through tomorrow’s to-do list is just life. We’re here to tell you: it doesn’t have to be this way.
Anxiety is one of the most common and most treatable mental health conditions. At Green Mountain Counseling, we work with San Antonio adults and teens to understand where their anxiety comes from and build the skills to actually live differently.
How We Treat Anxiety
The good news: anxiety responds very well to therapy. Our therapists use approaches with strong research support, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps you identify and reshape the thought patterns that feed anxiety, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, and exposure techniques for specific fears and phobias.
We won’t just give you a breathing exercise and send you home. We work with you to understand the root of your anxiety, build lasting coping skills, and gradually reclaim the parts of your life anxiety has been shrinking.
Where to Get Anxiety Therapy in San Antonio
Green Mountain Counseling serves clients across San Antonio, including North San Antonio, Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, Helotes, and surrounding areas. We accept most major insurance plans and offer private pay options.
We also offer a Social Anxiety Therapy Group for clients who want to work on social anxiety in a supported group setting — contact us to learn more about current availability.
Following a reduction in symptoms, the underlying cause is generally treated using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), or cognitive-based therapy in conjunction with medicinal interventions, depending on the severity.
