About Us - Ryan

Ryan Buell, LPC-Associate

Supervised by Andrea Alvarez, LPC-S

Ryan recently moved to Texas from South Carolina, from a practice working with low-income, military, minority and LGBTQIA+ clients. Before his counseling career, Ryan worked as a journalist and in the media industry. But, he always dreamed of becoming a therapist since it helped change his life after addiction in 2017. In 2023, he received his master’s in clinical mental health from the University of South Carolina and a play therapy certification.

Ryan’s approach includes Adlerian therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, using both to explore the client’s past to develop insight through the power of social connection and a strong therapeutic alliance. He enjoys working with a variety of concerns, including trauma, men’s issues, military, spirituality, depression, addiction, LGBTQIA+, and cultural issues. Outside of the office, Ryan enjoys writing, movies, hiking, college football (Penn State Nittany Lions/USC Gamecocks) and playing with his doggos, Kennedy and Cotton.
